We are a medium-sized family business based in Sonthofen in the Upper Algovia region of the Bavarian Alps operating all around the globe. In addition to our extensive portfolio of standard products, we offer a wide variety of special solutions. KAST develops those products in close cooperation with our valued customers.

Business Division

KAST is one of the foremost manufacturers of technical textiles and industry leader for bookbinding materials based in Sonthofen, the southernmost city in Germany. The company’s success reflects in the supply and export of a wide range of products into almost eighty countries worldwide for nearly six decades. Individual solutions and joint developments with our partners are our key strengths.

Technical Textiles

KAST produces and develops technical textiles for a variety of industrial applications. Our range of services include the weaving of glass grids, carbon, basalt and other fibers as well as the refinement of textile surfaces such as dyeing, finishing and coating. In addition to our standard articles, we offer fabric widths from 5 centimeter (1.97 in) up to 600 centimeter (236 in) in open mesh and dense weave constructions and a wide range of raw materials. We are able to offer tailor-made products according to customer requirements in weights from 25 grams per square meter (0.59 lb/ft²) up to 1,500 grams per square meter (35.6 lb/ft²).

Book Production

As the world’s leading supplier of book production materials, we have been supplying industrial binderies for decades. Our product range includes all technical materials for the production of book blocks and casemaking. In addition to our standard products such as crepe paper, spine hollow, ribbon and sewing thread, we also offer custom-made products on request.

Value Added and Reinforced Papers

This division’s portfolio covers textile as well as film reinforced papers, all kind of papers with hotsealing or gumming-coating and appropriate materials for a wide range of applications. Paper-based material compositions are applied in packaging industry like wrapping or sealing items.
