Technical Textiles: Structural Reinforcement

Todays composites reinforce concrete and masonry structures in terms of static and seismic values.

Masonry can be strengthened at the wall level as well as various wall angles to oppose technical failure.

KAST developed in close cooperation with national and international customers various reinforcement systems – especially for FRCM, CRM and FRP.

We manufacture open as well as dense woven, unidirectional and hybrid fabrics. Made from various types of high strength fibers such as carbon, basalt and AR glass that offer high-strength and low elongation values.

SR-GRID

  • Developed especially for FRCM systems (Fabric-Reinforced Cementitious Matrix)
  • 50% higher flexural strength, high mechanical load bearing and durability
  • Economic restoration system for cracks in load-bearing building structures

FRCM systems are widely used in the civil construction sector. They are governed by various international technical standards such as guidelines for the design and construction of externally applied FRCM or FRP systems to strengthen the existing structure and to repair and reinforce concrete and masonry constructions

+

Compared to traditional technologies such as Fiber Reinforced Polymers (FRP), FRCM systems are very easy to use, do not require special tooling and labor expenses remain low.

The processing temperature for FRCM is not limited by the glass transition temperature of the resin as in FRP systems. The fracture toughness is adequate and moisture vulnerability at the installation process low. Kast offers a wide range of mesh, dense woven and unidirectional fabrics for use in cementitious compounds

CP-GRID

CP-GRID is a textile reinforcing mesh made of high-strength fibers designed to counter settlement cracks and to refurbish those. The carbon fibers in combination with a coarse coating ensure a very high mechanical strength and outstandig durability. The convincing test results show a force absorption of 450 kN (101 kip) and a deformation capacity of 11mm (433mil).
